Sex Trafficking
Be part of the solution!
12 is a documentary to raise awareness and bring a hybrid extension of a “whole-community approach”. The community approach involves stakeholders, like yourself, that have a desire to support educational instructional programming, within the schools, simultaneous to providing students outreach opportunities within their own communities. Your participation provides students a platform for their voices to be heard and "shared" with others! A student - centered approach to human trafficking places students in the drivers' seat of their own learning experience and combines collaborative student discussion and problem - solving. The goal is to give trafficking victims a voice and a face.
Contact UsThis is Tiffany’s life.
Walking home from school one day she met a man who lived nearby in the Sacramento area. The realtionship started off by complementing Tiffany on her looks. He promised her romance, gifts and a new life. Instead, he delivered violence, fear and abuse. Then he sold her. Tiffany was moved out of the state she resided in and forced into the commercial sex trade. Tiffany was sold several times and was on her way to Las Vegas when she was improbably rescued. Had she made it, her fate would have likely been sealed. Instead, she got to tell us her story…
Tiffany’s story needs to be told to keep the next child from becoming a victim.
We are deploying a Framework on Human Trafficking, including Instructional Programming, in Schools that increases awareness among teens, for themselves and their community.
There is a need and you can be part of the solution! School-aged children and teens are primary targets for traffickers. Human trafficking negatively impacts students attending schools here in the United States. Confirmed cases reveal that trafficking activities occur on campus, during school-sponsored events and among peers. Recruiters form relationships with their fellow students in order to bring more youths into the criminal enterprise. Students meet traffickers while traveling to and from schools. Human trafficking is a form of child absue and neglect.
Awareness training and protocols are necessary to enable school administration and staff to identify victims and to effectually respond. Human Trafficking is a hidden crime. Student-centered instruction involves a hybrid extension of a "whole-community approach." The community approach involves multiple stakeholders, such as yourself, to support educational instructional programming and outreach opportunities within the communities. ISAFE has produced a short documentary to be distributed to schools and communities.
There is still alot more work to be done and this is where your support can make a difference! Peer to peer conversations make a huge impact among the teen population. Your support can help produce programming for teens to film and talk about their stories within their own communities, capture them on video, and put a face a voice, and a story, behind trafficking victims and the heroes who aid in their rescue across the country.
We are documenting an ever changing tale of other Tiffanys, a catalogue of our successes and reminders of the failures, to engage and inspire more students to take up the fight and keep telling this ever changing story.
We are producing a full-length documentary, along with short video webcasts, to distribute to advocacy groups, law enforcement, media, community and faith organizations.
Our goal is to distribute this media to as many organizations as possible in order to highlight the issue of sex trafficking and support local efforts through education, enforcement and victim support. Really, it is for whoever can make a difference…whoever can help shine a light on this dark issue in their community and STOP child sex trafficking.
The issue of human trafficking differs in every state, region, community, school and for every student. Media speaks to students in a very different way than lecture. Through media students can apply their own critical thinking to meet the needs of at risk-groups within their own schools and neighborhoods. Media allows students to grasp the principles of prevention without feeling exposed themselves, and allowa them to take action when in fact they never thought such an opportunity could be presented to them.
There are multiple entry points that link to core subject matters that this video production can be shared with students in schools. For example, human trafficking is a form of modern day slavery. Thus, the link between the history of slavery and modern slavery is a practical entry point for instruction on human trafficking. Additional examples of cross-curricular integration of human trafficking education includes lessons on human rights, the principle of supply and demand, the criminal justice system, the legislative process, media literacy and the influence of pop-culture on self-concept and self-worth.
Media is a key outreach effort that is scalable and allows awareness and prevention efforts, led by students for students, to be easily replicated and become viral. Students are not just limited to social media to tell and share their story. The purpose of students obtaining community support is an opportunity for students to speak to other students and to give trafficking a voice and a face!
